1. Introduction
Authentica LLC ("Authentica", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Authentica mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.
Please read this policy carefully. By using the app you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Camera and Images — Authentica requests access to your device camera to capture product photos for authentication. Photos submitted for authentication are processed by our AI model and are not permanently stored on our servers after the authentication process is complete.
Usage Data — We collect anonymous usage data including app opens, features used, and authentication categories selected. This data does not identify you personally.
Submission Data — If you submit an unregistered item for review you provide brand name, model name, and a self-reported label. This information is stored to improve our authentication model.
Notification Preferences — If you opt in to Coming Soon notifications we store your preference and a device identifier to send you a push notification when that feature becomes available.
Authentication Images — Images submitted for authentication may be used to improve Authentica's AI model. Images are stored securely and are never shared with third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide authentication services — processing your product photos through our AI model and returning a verdict
- To improve our model — unregistered item submissions help us identify which brands and models to add to future training data
- To send notifications — if you opted in to feature notifications we send a push notification when the requested feature goes live
- To analyze usage — anonymous usage patterns help us improve the app experience
4. Data Retention
Authentication photos are processed in real time and are not retained on our servers after the verdict is returned. Submission data for unregistered items is retained to improve the model and is deleted when no longer needed for training purposes. Notification preferences are retained until you opt out or delete the app.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your authentication photos with any third party. We may share anonymous aggregated usage statistics with enterprise partners. We use Railway and Amazon Web Services for backend infrastructure — these services process data under their own privacy policies and security standards.
6. Camera Permission
Authentica requires camera access to scan products for authentication. Camera access is used exclusively for capturing product images for authentication. We do not access your camera roll or stored photos without your explicit action of selecting a photo to upload. You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device Settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Authentica is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected information from a child under 13 we will delete it immediately.
8. Your Rights
- Request deletion of any personal data we hold about you by contacting privacy@authenticaapp.com
- Opt out of push notifications at any time in your device Settings
- Revoke camera permission at any time in your device Settings
9. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission and secure cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this policy and where appropriate through an in-app notification.
